Community Service

Our guild is committed to community service and asks each member  to support that commitment in one of the following ways annually. You will find links for the patterns for some of the charity projects, such as the walker bags, below. The patterns are also available from the Community Service Committee.   If you prefer, you can participate in one of the several Charity Sew Days scheduled each year, where you can work on a designated project with other members of the guild.  Projects include: 

  • One children's oncology quilt (42" by 44" or 42" by 54") - donated to Lehigh Valley Hospital
  • Two preemie quilts (18" by 25") - donated to St. Luke's Hospital
  • Two mastectomy pillows and bags - donated to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest (pillow - 7-1/4" x 11-1/4")
  • Four teddy bears or cats (sewing suggestion)- donated to St. Luke's Hospital Emergency Department
  • One wounded soldier quilt (50" by 60") - donated to Quilts of Valor Foundation: http://www.qovf.org.
  • One Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) of St Luke's Hospice quilt (63" by 93")
  • Two pillowcases -- (Example 1) or (Example 2)
  • Two walker tote bags -- (Walker Tote Instructions)
  • One pocket shawl -- (Pocket Shawl Instructions)
