Our History

A series of meetings were held at The Quiltery, Nazareth, PA, for the purpose of forming a quilting quild, under the direction of Mary Ann Dutkin. The first preparational meeting took place on February 3, 1983 and the last preparational meeting was held on June 7, 1983. The organizers of the guild were: Mary Ann Dutkin, E. Lorraine Miller, Mary Beth Gower, Pam Probasco, Beverly Repsher and Sheri Purdy. The first organizational meeting of the guild was held on Tuesday, June 14, 1983 at 7 PM. A group of 93 women met for the first time at the Easton National Bank & Trust, 25th & Northampton St., Easton, Pa. A film entitled "Quilts in Woman's Lives" was viewed. 1983 - Tuesday, November 7th - Our first official meeting place was at the Leader 11 Nursing & Rehab Center, Bethlehem, PA. We made a quilt in 1983, named HOPE, for the Ronald McDonald House in Wisconsin and it was made and quilted by 40 guild members. Dues ran January/January and was $5.00 yearly
Our guild made 13 quilts for the Visiting Nurses Association Hospice when it opened in August 2005. The quilters and quilts are in this photo:
